2010 Audi RS5 Coupe spied

By George Skentzos |

Rarely does a camouflaged prototype look so good, although in the case of this latest encounter with the upcoming performance flagship Audi RS5 its combination black matte and blue hue looks simply brilliant.

This particular prototype was spied conducting handling tests near the challenging Nürburgring race circuit in Germany, with Audi taking a ‘less is more’ approach in the hope it would sneak past unnoticed.

Its unique colour scheme likely suggests this particular car has been wrapped to preserve its paintwork, meaning a production version may be just around the corner.

In seemingly near-production guise, signature elements of Audi’s RS stable can be seen such as the twin oval exhaust pipes, enormous brake package and aggressive front end treatment.

At this point it is unclear what engine lies just past those menacing air intakes, although current speculation suggests it could use the same twin-turbo V10 found in the Audi RS6 range.

If this is the case, expect at least 430kW to be channeled through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

So far there has been no word on when the RS5 will debut, but it looks as though the BMW M6 has been put on notice.

Another winner from Audi. They can’t seem to do any wrong.

    Good on em.

    ohhhh thats tasty.

    Audi!…you are a bunch of psychos!! :D

V10 is unlikely, as A5 series is on the new A4 platform with reduced front overhang. How about a twin-turbo V8?

    Leave it Matt-black thanks :D

Mmmmm it looks like a batmobile for executives.

Deliciousness on wheels. How do Audi make their cars look so good inside and out. I JUST LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!. Definetly keep the matte black, even as an option. Thank the Fatherland for Audi.

    Thank you Deutschland!

Mega front hoops under the headlights look awesome … assume its just normal air cooling, but could easily be intake related as well.

Audi: love your cars, please let my chequebook catch up!

Also agree with the matte colouring as an option. More cars in Europe (ie the Cayenne’s especially) seem to get ordered with the stealth bomber colour scheme.

I would prefer the RS6.This car looks BIG and the overall shape doesn’t really differentiate it enough from the sedan RS6 version.
I’m sure it will have more than enough power and torque.

Take it from the comments above its a YES then.

Nice thing is though chatting to the wife last night about her new aquired A6 she was talking about us have a sports car. I quoted the most suitable as being the A5 for our purposes with the 3.0 TDi donk. Can’t wait til next year.

Everytime I’ve been seeing the S6 (not so much the RS6 so far) sedan around, I can’t help but think of the tasty S5 in the next breath.

To me something about the RS/S6 sedan just looks a bit portly. Probably those extra doors ;)

Anyone got a weight comparo handy?

Just read on the Autoblog site that the RS5 may get an updated version of the 4.2L V8 from the RS4?
Apparently it should have about 335Kw.
