April 7, 2009 by George Skentzos

The Germans are certainly a resourceful bunch with the third generation Mercedes-Benz SLK already well into development despite still being three years away from its scheduled arrival.

These crystal clear images of the heavily disguised prototype reveal the new model to be much sharper and more upright than the current model, also losing its F1-inspired front end.

When it debuts, expect the new SLK to fall in line with current Mercedes design trends which have already been applied to the C-Class and E-Class range.

New to the range will be LED daytime running lights, with a metal folding roof to remain as standard.

  1. Twilight says:

i have noticed a trend towards SLK, and SLR(or the new equivelant…)

they always have similar styling trends, eg:
front of current SLK compared to SLR – and the rear lights/proportions

and by the looks of this, the front and rear again will be similar to the new SL-Gullwing (which essentially will look like a modern interpretation of the 60’s 300SL Gullwing)

    i like :)
