Porsche Considering Hybrid & Diesel
Porsche have always been known for precision engineering, bringing the best technology and engineers together to create the best sports cars the world has ever seen, without compromise.
Rumours from Germany are pointing the Hybrid stick at Porsche, the German manufacturer is reportedly given the green light for the developement of a Hybrid Cayenne in 2009. Of course the technology isn't all developed by Porsche, a fair bit of the R&D is borrowed from Volkswagen, (Porsche owns a good chunk of Volkswagen).
There is also a possibility that Porsche's new Grand Tourer, the Panamera, will also be offered in Hybrid format. It doesn't just stop there, there is also talk of Diesel Porsches!
Porsche have worked hard with Audi (owned by Volkswagen - Porsche) on the development of the soon to be released Audi Q7 hybrid (which is essentially based on the Cayenne and VW Touareg platform). Reports hint the new Hybrid vehicles will be able to drive at around 30km/hr without the use of their gasoline engine. Excellent for traffic driving.
This talk of Porsche creating Hybrid and Diesel cars is a true sign that the industry as a whole has realized that the time has come to draw the line and move forward with newer technologies to not only tackle global warming, but face the issue that fossil fuel is a finite resource.
