I just had my car serviced at Toyota under the Toyota Advantage Plan. It was taken in for it’s 40 000km MAJOR service. When I booked it in, the woman said I need to be there right on 8am (it was a Saturday), so it could be finished by 12 (when they close) because it was such a major service. At no point did she mention I was overdue with my service…so really, was I even getting a major service?
Because I booked this service 3 months out of the 24 month schedule, it was a 50 000km service I got. I noticed this on the paperwork when I picked up the car. I was charged for an air filter replacement – something that would be replaced under the 40 000km service. Other replacements recommended (spark plug and brake fluid) for a 40 000km service were not done. Or at least they aren’t on my receipt. Nor was I asked if I wanted these done. I’ll be heading in next week and ask what’s the deal?!
I would be better off getting a major service at Kmart Tyre and Auto for 200 bucks! Which I did before I moved to my current location, and those services would cost about 150.
Oh and they wanted to do some air conditioning flush for $95!

Beware the $120 service charge.
I took my Corolla for its 20,000K service and it was eight months after my 10,000K and they wanted to charge me $266.00 as it could not be a scheduled service, being two months overdue.
I kicked up a big stink and ended up getting it for $120.
‘Not happy Jan’
And by the way, last november my alternator broke its bolts
( left hanging by one bent one)
I have had a bad experience .Have had my last oil change from them and my last Toyota.

its great to know that toyota gave its customers some options to purchase the corolla. another monumental feat to toyota corolla and toyota corolla parts.

$120 for an oil-change + new oil filter is still a rip off.
Thats all you get on most services.Maybe a new air filter as well at 40,000 kms.

Yes I agee, the design is so boring. Too rounded. I would like more sleek. And the Corolla colours on their website are also boring. Old men colours. I saw the new Corolla at the Melbourne Motor Show and thought, YUK. I already own a 1998 Corolla sedan and had a 1989/90 Corolla Secca prior to that but this time, I think my dollars are going elsewhere. I’m looking at updating this year and as an older female I want something a bit more sporty and brighter in colour. Mazda colours are much more appealing, and being a fickle female I could well buy a Mazda 3 or 6 because of that.

Even though todays pages are rapidly becoming ‘Toyota Corolla Times’ i enjoyed the read:-)

$120 fixed service is a great idea, why dont others do this?

Frankly the purchase price of the said vehicle should inc service for the first 3 years, AU Falcon style
