2014 Nissan Murano gets safety upgrades

The 2014 Nissan Murano has scored many of the active safety systems that debuted in its Altima sedan sibling, but only for the flagship Ti grade.

With unchanged entry-level pricing, the $48,990 Murano ST continues with an identical equipment level, but the $60,240 Murano Ti rises by $250 yet includes more key technologies than before.

Now standard on the Ti are a blind spot monitor, lane departure warning and  moving object detection system. A warning light attached to the top Murano’s passenger door mirror is complemented by an audible chime should a vehicle be detected in the rear three-quarter area of the car. Another chime and a dashboard warning light activates if the Nissan detects lane markings on a road, and then detects if the driver is swerving out of the lane.

In addition to the standard reverse-view camera and rear parking sensors, the moving object detection system alerts drivers on the centre screen and with yet another chime should pedestrians or other objects begin to walk behind the vehicle.

Replacing the 19-inch alloy wheels are larger 20s, while the standard satellite navigation system adds live traffic alerts.

Nissan says the pre-facelift 2013 Murano are currently on run-out from $44,900 drive away (ST) and $57,790 drive away (Ti), yet the quoted driveaway prices for the 2014 model are $53,091 and $66,464 respectively.
