Proton global small car spy photos

The Proton global small car, or P2-30A as it's currently being referred to, is undergoing cold weather testing before its expected unveiling later this year.

We first saw glimpses of what Proton had in mind with the unveiling of three Proton EMAS concepts at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow. The concepts were designed by Italdesign Giugiaro.

The five-door city car will be a sign of things to come from the Malaysian manufacturer as it seeks to bring technology in-house, with the engines for the new city car designed solely by Proton engineers.

The global small car will replace the defunct Proton Savvy but will be built for international markets, rather than the car catering to Malaysian market needs and then being adjusted to suit other areas.

Proton hopes to dramatically increase its exports by 2018 and the global city car is likely to lead the charge.
