Citroen C4 Cactus : quirky French crossover leaked

Images of the Citroen C4 Cactus have been leaked, revealing the compact crossover inside and out, complete with its unique 'Airbump' body panels.

As expected, the C4 Cactus closely mirrors the quirky Citroen Cactus concept that debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show.

The C4 Cactus’ innovative Airbumps are made of a durable, rubbery plastic compound. Covering panels below the headlights, along the front and rear doors, and across the tailgate, the Airbumps are designed to protect the Citroen from low-impact hits from the likes of shopping trolleys and carelessly opened doors.

The production car also retains the concept’s ‘floating’ roof design, though gains a conventional B-pillar that was absent from the show car. The roof racks and distinctive eight-spoke alloy wheels carry over unchanged from the concept.

The cabin of the Citroen C4 Cactus is also highly reminiscent of the Cactus concept, featuring lounge-style front bench seating, twin instrument cluster and central display screens, push-button gear selector, and a combination of coloured leather, polished metal and piano black surfaces.

While platform and powertrain details remain under wraps for now, Citroen last year confirmed the C4 Cactus would abandon the concept’s Hybrid Air propulsion system in favour of low-powered petrol and diesel engines and conventional transmissions.

Full details will be released when the C4 Cactus is revealed in the coming hours.

It’s unclear at this stage if Citroen has any plans to introduce the C4 Cactus to Australia. A local representative has been contacted for comment.
