Proton Suprima S : Super Premium to sport up Australian range
The Proton Suprima S Super Premium will sport up the Malaysian car maker's compact hatch range when it arrives in Australian showrooms in the final quarter of this year.
The 'race-inspired' Suprima S Super Premium wears seven-spoke grey 17-inch alloy wheels and a black R3 bodykit comprising unique lower front and rear bumpers and side skirts.
Mechanically identical to the Proton Suprima S GX and GXR variants that launched locally last month, the Super Premium is powered by turbocharged 103kW/205Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
The Super Premium will be offered with a ‘seven-speed’ automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) as well as a six-speed manual that will become available in the GX and GRX by mid-2014.
Based on the GXR grade, the Proton Suprima S Super Premium comes standard with auto headlights and wipers, daytime running lights, fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, push-button start, cruise control, climate control, leather upholstery, satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and a DVD player.
The Super Premium will cost slightly more than the Suprima S GXR on which it’s based, which costs $23,790 driveaway with the manual transmission and $25,790 driveaway with the CVT.
Proton Australia spokesman Mark Higgins told CarAdvice pricing would be finalised closer to the Suprima S Super Premium’s fourth-quarter launch.
