Jeep Wrangler Freedom : army-inspired special edition from $35,000

Based on the 209kW/347Nm 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol-powered Wrangler Sport, the Jeep Wrangler Freedom comes at a $2500 premium, starting from $35,000.

Available in two- and four-door Unlimited variants tied to either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, the Freedom special edition features unique army-inspired exterior and interior additions.

A large, weathered-looking ‘Freedom Star’ on the bonnet is joined by a smaller decal on the driver’s side rear flank, while ‘Oscar Mike’ badging, a Mineral Grey grille and body coloured wheel arch flares continue the theme. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Rock Rails and a black Mopar fuel flap complete the look.

Inside, combination black leather, vinyl and fabric upholstery joins an embroidered ‘Freedom Star’ on both driver and passenger seats, silver accents and air vent surrounds, a black upholstered centre console and vinyl upholstered front door armrests. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, silver door grab handles and black Mopar slush floor mats are also included.

The standard Wrangler Sport's Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system carries over to the Freedom, as does its 35-degree approach angle, 22-degree breakover angle and 28-degree departure angle, while the special edition has a Wrangler Rubicon-matching 223mm ground clearance – rather than the Wrangler Sport’s 230mm.

On sale from February, the Jeep Wrangler Freedom is available in seven hues: Flame Red, Bright White, Hydro Blue Pearl, Black, Bright Silver Metallic, and Dune.
