2015 Subaru Liberty teased

The first teaser image of the new-generation Subaru Liberty sedan has been revealed ahead of next week's Chicago auto show.

Details on the all-new mid-size sedan - which will be revealed wearing the Legacy nameplate but will to bare the Liberty badge when it arrives in Australia in 2015 - are still to be confirmed, though the Japanese company has stated the new model is the production version of the Legacy concept car shown at the Los Angeles auto show in November 2013.

A release from Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, states the unveiling of the sixth-generation model will coincide with the car's 25th anniversary, and that the new car will offer "enhanced driveability, functionality and quality, underpinned by the all-wheel drive credentials for which it is renowned".

Described as a "mid-size sports sedan", the new model is expected to carry over the 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engines as seen in the Impreza and Forester ranges. A turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine - similar to that seen in the new-generation WRX - is also a chance.

A wagon version and an all-new Outback wagon are expected to be revealed in the coming months, with the latter likely to show up at the 2014 New York auto show in April.
