Best new car deals of 2014

January is a great time of year to get a deal on a new car, with many manufacturers offering discounts on 2013-build models to clear old stock, as well as offering savings on 2014-plated models and added value in the form of free servicing and cheaper financing to get the year off to a flying start.


Standing out from a long list of driveaway deals is the Mitsubishi Mirage ES manual for $12,990 plus $1000 cashback, Kia Rio S three-door manual for $13,990, Volkswagen Golf 90TSI Comfortline manual for $24,990, Toyota Camry Altise for $26,990, and the Ford Falcon XR6 for $33,990.

Below is a wrap of the best deals currently offered by manufacturers across the country:

Audi has extended its ‘Open Haus’ sale, offering free registration, stamp duty and compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance on all new cars purchased and delivered by January 31.

BMW is offering five years/80,000km free scheduled servicing on new vehicles ordered and delivered by January 31.

Citroen is running out the C4 Grand Picasso HDi for $39,490 driveaway, and offering 0.5 per cent finance on C5 and DS models.

Ford is offering driveaway deals on its remaining 2013-build vehicles, including Fiesta Ambiente from $16,490, Focus Ambiente sedan/hatch from $18,990, Mondeo LX hatch from $29,990, XR6 Ute from $30,490 driveaway, XR6 from $33,990, Falcon G6 from $33,490, XR6 Turbo Ute from $35,490, XR6 Turbo from $39,490, G6E from $39,990, and Territory TX RWD petrol from $37,990.

FPV has slashed more than $15K from the price of its 2013-build F6, which is available from $54,990 driveaway, and well over $10,000 from the GT, available from $64,990 driveaway.

Great Wall has made its cheapest ute even cheaper, offering the V240 4x2 single-cab from $16,990 driveaway until January 31. Driveaway deals on the V240 4x2 dual-cab ($20,990), V200 4x2 dual-cab ($22,990), and X240 ($22,990) all continue until March 31.

Holden is offering discounts across its range of 2013-build stock, with highlights including the Barina CD hatch from $14,990 driveaway, Cruze Equipe from $20,490 driveaway, Trax LS from $24,990 driveaway, Captiva 5 2WD from $25,990 driveaway, Captiva 7 SX from $29,990 driveaway, and Commodore SV6 Ute from $34,990 driveaway.

HSV is running a factory bonus program for its remaining 2013-build vehicles, with one Sydney dealership quoting a driveaway price of $59,888 for a ClubSport manual.

Honda is offering 1.5 per cent finance on 2013 model year Odyssey and Accord VTi models, as well as all Jazz and City VTi and VTi-L variants.

Hyundai has added extra incentives to a number of models ordered and delivered by January 31, headlined by the i40 Active, which is priced from $31,990 driveaway and comes with three years of free scheduled servicing, and the ix35 Active, available from $27,990 driveaway with a $1000 factory bonus.

Jaguar is offloading last year’s XF 2.0 from $74,990 driveaway.

Kia vehicles purchased and delivered by January 31 are subject to driveaway discounts, including the Rio S three-door from $13,990, Cerato S hatch/sedan from $19,219, Soul from $21,534, Sportage Si from $25,214, 2014 Optima Si from $30,137, Grand Carnival S from $37,607, and 2014 Sorento Si from $37,642.

Land Rover will cover all on-road costs (dealer delivery, registration, stamp duty and CTP insurance) for Discovery, Freelander, Defender and Range Rover Evoque customers whose vehicles are purchased and delivered by February 28.

Lexus CT200h, GS and RX vehicles purchased and delivered by January 31 are all available at reduced prices under the brand’s plate clearance sale.

Mazda is getting rid of its remaining 2013-build stock at driveaway prices, with the Mazda 2 Neo Sport from $15,690, run-out Mazda 3 Neo from $19,990, BT-50 4x2 single-cab from $25,990, and CX-9 Classic from $42,990.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class demonstrators are available at 12 per cent off the price of an equivalent new car and until January 25 come with free scheduled servicing for two years.

Mini is offering discounts of at least $4000 across its hatch, Coupe, Roadster and Countryman body styles until February 15.

Mitsubishi is looking to lure buyers into its 2013-build cars ordered and delivered by January 31, offering the Mirage ES from $12,990 driveaway plus $1000 cashback, Triton GL 4x2 from $19,990 driveway, Lancer LX from $21,990 driveaway, ASX 2WD from $24,990 driveaway, and Outlander ES from $28,990 driveaway.

Nissan is offering the Patrol (Y61) ST Plus from $57,990 driveaway, as well as a loaded X-Trail ST with sat-nav, rear-view camera, kick plates and unique mats from $29,990 driveaway.

Peugeot is offering driveaway deals on 2013-build models purchased and delivered by March 31, including the 308 Style turbo auto from $28,990, 4008 Active 2WD auto from $29,990, 4007 SV HDi from $39,990, and the 508 Allure HDi from $42,990.

Renault vehicles built last year and ordered by February 28 have been discounted, with the best deals including the Megane hatch GT line from $24,990 driveaway, Koleos Expression from $25,990 driveaway, Clio Authenique manual $16,990 driveaway, and Megane RS265 Cup from $38,990 driveaway.

Skoda continues to offer aggressive driveaway pricing across its model range into the new year, with deals headlined by the Fabia from $15,990 and Fabia RS from $26,990, Roomster from $19,690, Yeti 4x2 from $21,990, Octavia Ambition 103TSI sedan from $22,990 and run-out Octavia RS petrol from $39,990, and Superb 103TDI Ambition from $32,990.

Suzuki is advertising driveaway pricing for the Alto GL ($11,990), 2013 Swift GA ($15,490), SX4 Navigator ($19,990), Grand Vitara Urban 2WD ($24,990) and Kizashi Touring ($29,990). Vehicles must be purchased by January 31.

Toyota has extended its 2013 clearance sale into the new year, offering the Yaris YR five-door from $15,990 driveaway, HiLux WorkMate 4x2 single-cab petrol from $21,990 driveaway, Camry Altise from $26,990 driveaway, and Kluger KX-R AWD from $43,990 driveaway if ordered by January 31 and delivered by February 28.

Volkswagen has set aggressive driveaway pricing on a number of its models, including the Polo Trendline from $15,990, Golf 90TSI Comfortline from $24,990, Jetta 118TSI (built on or before August 1) from $22,990 driveaway, and Tiguan 118TSI from $27,990. Vehicles must be ordered by February 28 and delivered by March 31.

Volvo is offering driveaway pricing minus GST on S60 R-Design, V40 R-Design, V40 Cross Country T5 Luxury, XC60 R-Design and XC90 R-Design vehicles purchased and delivered by February 15.
