Lamborghini Murcielago Review

May 14, 2007 by Alborz Fallah

This is the kind of car that causes accidents, not because its fast, not because its hard to drive, but because drivers takes their eyes of the road to admire the beast. Multiple times during the day we witnessed near accidents when drivers tried to either keep up with is (at legal speeds of course) or spent far to much time drooling on themselves and not watching the car infront.

Speaking of legal speeds, the speedo in the lambo is definitely not license friendly, without a digital speedometer, the Lambo is quite a challenge to keep at legal speeds (a challenge which we overcame…), with read out bars at 60-90-150- and all the way to 360. You just know this car wasn’t made for our draconian roads and road rules.

Lamborghini Murcielago

With a top speed of 339km/hr, the Murcielago is the type of car you’d take on European highways where slow (and elderly – or is the same word?) drivers stay in the left lane, where the men in blue are not hiding behind a bush, in a bin with an air hole, where the road doesn’t have a 20 degree camber forcing you into a ditch.

Please Slow Down

Driving the Lamborghini around Sydney felt like talking to Einstein through two paper cups and a string, it had so much more potential, but with no where to truly unwind its legs, the Lamborghini felt like just another car, the sort of car that you could almost drive everyday.

There were some problems however…

Has to be “The Super Car of Super Cars”. I’ve always loved the lambo designs. Ever since the classic lambo opening in the cannonballrun!

“I think the next car I get will be a Hyundai!” I’ve always said there is a cheap way of getting 50% more performance and fun out of your existing car.

Just rent a crap car for a weekend.

Nice pics and all, I’m still laughing at your example of “like a school girl meeting Justin Timberlake” lol..

In the video when you opened the door, I was expecting that you just press the button and have to open it just a lil bit and the rest it does itself.. but from what I saw wouldn’t that be annoying that you have you to pull the door up from that little bit of handle? (just curious lol)

Why don’t we have some form of a Top Gear , but Australian version? lol

      says:

yeah mate the door isnt that easy to open,
      but its not that heavy
so it pulls up relatively simply,

as for the last question, we are working on it mate.. trust me :D

May I suggest some therapy before anything else is test driven ?

Bring on an Australian form of TOP GEAR.

Better than the bloody robots that we are feed now ! They talk to us like we know nothing about cars !Just like the idiots on 7 that now are doing V8 supercars.

Crap compared to what we use to have with 10 !!!

Husband said I could play the STIG but for the 2 air bags I have at the front. I have the TEE-SHIRT ex Top Gear too.

i dont think an aus version of top gear would work. theres absolutely no host i kno in aus that i consider to the likes of clarkson and even richard hammond.

they need to bring top gear to mainstream television. instead we’re fed with twop like fattest loser, big brother and *shudders* australian idol

id love to see an updated video segment on here. alborz?

      Sam your a genius !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find the Australian Host for Aus Top Gear!!!!

Run by Jeremy,James & Richard . Enter to be the 1 of the 3 hosts for Top Gear in Aus,with the guys from the UK giving challenges to the contestants and eliminating those that fail at the end of each week till 3 are left. Got to better than how they came up with Glen Ridge ,guy is a pussy !

Yeah going by some of the knuckle heads on this site an Australian Top Gear would be full of dickheads spouting how fantastic Toyota are ! It would never work you need real grunt high performance cars and looking around in this country apart from Ford, HSV, and Holden there’s not much left ! Oh actually the Elfin is Aussie made ? Thats one…..

He mentioned that a heavy person wont fit comfotably in this car. Well my dads freind has a 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster and I fit perfectly fine in the drivers seat and when he let me drive it I felt comfortable, yeah it wasn’t as comfortable as my moms chrysler pacifica, but it was ok.

    20. Just parked behind one at the supermarket 30 mins ago.Same colour but YELLOW interior!!! What the!!

Anyway Alborz are the clutches heavy in them, cause when the guy left he was riding it like it was.

I would like to say that the Murcielago is the best Lamborghini of them all, but there is no way tell whether Lamborghini are going to make anything else like it again, seeing as they only make fast and loud cars, like the Diablo or the Countach, but Lamborghini have made a monster with the Murcielago. Enjoy it while you can.
P.S That’s the LP640 not the normal coupe.

Why is there tape in the interior?

    27. Vote -1 Vote +1Oz.
      says:

“however the centre roof compartment gave way as we drove the car, but nothing a bit of sticky tape wouldn’t fix.”

      Oh that’s not good! LOL

    28. I’ll have to say that I don’t know what I would say if a 700k car something go wrong with it and I had to tape it back. Althought I know that I would say that the Lambo is truely a car that you don’t see very often and I think that this is why everyone stops to look at it. or rather passionatly admire it.
