Point taken, but i suppose i was trying to say if schumacher drove for teams like Arrows or Minardi he never would have stood a chance at winning a GP… unless it was a wet race or somthing.

Azza – simply not true, if it where then whichever team had the best car, their drivers would finnish 1-2 in the championship, which never happens.

Schumacher won at least 2 that I can recall of his championships without having the best car (although obviously it was still quick)

Hamilton lost the championship in his first season despite having CLEARLY the fastest car, no disrespect to his abilities, its just that winning a championship is hard and too much for a rookie at that level, any rookie.

In Alonso’s second championship, Schumacher had a faster car from probably the mid way point of the season on wards after the Renault Mass Damper system was deemed illegal, but he still managed to go on and hold Schumacher out for the championship, his team mate on the other hand was struggling to even make the points….

To win in F1 you have to drive the car on the limit, basically qualifying laps, every lap of the grand prix, over every grand prix in that season.

I hear people say “its all about the car” all the time and certainly that has a heck of a lot to do with it, but a HUGE amount of it is driver as well.

The only way to win a f1 championship is to be in a competitive car. The drivers themselves are only about a second apart in speed, but car speed can differ by up to 2 or 3 secs… So even the best driver in a bad car is still no where…

Mister Two – I dunno about being a part of F1 royalty… he won the world championship with a massive car advantage, even then Schumacher in an inferrior Ferrari came close to beating him, as did his rookie team mate Villenueve who is hardly a brilliant driver himself (also only won the championship with a big car advantage).

^Tim you wouldn’t be saying that if it was Mark Webber or Mark Skaife driving, however Dominic wouldn’t have been sick if either of them was driving as Damon is former world champion and part of F1 royalty. This is old footage from 2002 anyway.
