Lamborghini cancels Estoque project
March 23, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Lamborghini’s Estoque, the car set to rival Porsche’s Panamera and Aston Martin’s Rapide, will forever remain a concept with news this morning Lamborghini has cancelled the Estoque project.
Lamborghini cites the global recession for the sole reason behind the project’s scrapping.
“The timing and market conditions are just not right for an additional model line,” research and development boss Maurizio Reggiani said.
Although the company had poured a lot of money in to the concept, production work was at a very early stage meaning Lamborghini’s financial loss on the Estoque project was not as bad as it could have been.
For now, the Estoque is another one for the history books.

NO how could they!
Disappointing but not exactly a huge surprise. I think I’d rather the Aston anyway.
Why cancel it? Couldnt they mothball it till 2011? Also the NSX and others like them. These are great cars with real markets, though admittedly not right now. Why cancel them outright?
That sucks, oh well. It wasn’t as though I’d be writing a cheque to Lambo anytime soon :P
Shame, but not totally unexpected in relation to what is happening around the rest of the sports car world, allthough cancelling it instead of benching it for a while is a surprise…dam…they would have looked like no other car on the road…
You used to be able to get a body-kit to make an RX-7 look like a Ferrari.. Therefore; I think that with a bit of creativity you could make an RX-8 look like the Etosque.
interesting idea wheelnut. That rear quarter of the etosque is similar-ish. But the length would give it away. Aint this car 5 metres long?
Why o Why did the market have to crash now. the NSX…. and now the Beautiful estoque. WHHHHYYYYYYY !!!!!. Anyway id rather have the Rapide bu this is a loss to motoring society. Good luck Lambo.
The worlds first “super sedan”, they were going to make the SUV
but that fell through and this was born. So this is for the man with
a family or the style-conscious businessman that has a full time chauffeur
I am not to sure if this would be the car for me as far as I am concerned
a sports car should just be that. The more I have been reading about it
I have now seen that this too has been shelved, so all the hype was just
that.
