I certainly think anything that can run real sub 16 second quarter miles, has an economy of roughly 6.6/100km and does it using 1.4 litres is an achievement for a conventional (read: non-rotory) engine. Good job Volkswagen.

I have a Citroen C4 and achieve 4.3Lt/100km consistantly. So how can a Prius be the best fuel economy car of the year. I have looked on the net and numerous USA drivers report rates of 6 plus lt/100km. I also have a 397 Peugeot 2lt HDI Tiptronic which returns 5.3lt/100 km.

Where's the VE Commodore or E Series HSV engines? I thought they'd be in the running based on the plaudits from Wheels Magazine etc... :-P

Looking forward to the V8 M3 engine winning next year... ;-)

i think the s85 bmw v10 is too overrated. its an amazing engine, but best performance engine? ferrari 4.3L V8 should have gotten that. Interesting to see chevs ls7 get some quality feedback, should keep the wallopers quiet :P
