Audi A7 Sportback: facelifted luxury ‘four-door coupe’ spied

A camouflaged Audi A7 Sportback has been spied in Germany, suggesting a facelift for the luxury 'four-door coupe' is in the works.

Expected to mirror the changes seen in the recently updated A8 and S8 twins, the refreshed Audi A7 Sportback is expected to bring with it improved engines with more power and better efficiency, weight-saving measures and new safety and driver assistance technology including Audi’s Matrix LED lighting system.

Caught only from the rear by CarAdvice’s spy photographers, the facelifted A7 Sportback can be seen with revised LED tail-lights, a new rear bumper with wider, narrower integrated exhaust tips, and a rear window-mounted LED brake light strip.

The front, while not pictured, is anticipated to follow with subtle tweaks to the grille and front bumper.

Given the Audi A7 Sportback was updated in January – adding a five-seat layout as standard and receiving performance gains for both 3.0 TFSI petrol and 3.0 TDI diesel units – a facelifted model isn’t expected before mid to late 2014.

First unveiled as an all-new model in 2010, the A6-based Audi A7 Sportback is aimed squarely at the likes of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS. The Audi A7 Sportback starts at $135,750.
