I know I'm a year late with this but if it ever does come onto the Aust'n market in diesel form, I'd buy one. Currently its only opposition is some French stuff and the Holden Astra Coupe. Ford have absolutely no plans to bring the lovely wagon of the next generation of Focus to our shores....sigh.

A very nice car, unfortunately the South African? made version will arrive here late and overpriced compared to the Japanese made opposition.

It will remain just a curosity item in the Australian market.

If Veedub bring the wagon to Oz, it should most certainly come with diesel and petrol variants. If they cant price it as a Golf, they should price it as a Jetta wagon, as they are the same car.

If they bring in the diesel variant(s), this thing will be a winner. In shopping for a similar vehicle in the last few weeks, I was after something with plenty of space for strollers, dogs etc. but still economical and easy to park in the local westfield.

The stigma attached to 4WD's/SUV's in the city is hard to dismiss, not to mention their lack of manouverability, green credentials and economy. The more forward thinking families will be looking to vehicles like this and the (spacially smaller) Mazda 6 diesel wagon as serious alternatives.

I just ponied up a ridiculous amount of money for a Citroen C4 Picasso because it was the only one to fit our criteria... I looked at this Golf wagon on British sites and though "if only"!
