Audi A6: luxury sedan, wagon updated for 2014

Four-cylinder Audi A6 models – the 132kW/320Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and 130kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel – gain xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Audi’s S line exterior package is also added as standard and includes more sporting front and rear bumpers, side ventilation grilles, side sills, a platinum grey rear diffuser, chrome exhaust finishers and S line badging.

The changes have no impact on pricing for the entry-level $77,900 petrol model, however the base diesel is up $600 to $79,500.

A new Technik package is also available as a $3000 option, adding four-zone climate control, 360-degree top-view camera, a sports steering wheel with paddleshifters, and active lane and blind spot assist driver aids. DAB-plus digital radio and folding exterior mirrors complete the four-cylinders’ pack.

Six-cylinder A6 models – comprising the 150kW/280Nm 2.8-litre petrol, 180kW/580Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, 228kW/440Nm supercharged 3.0-litre petrol and flagship 230kW/650Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel – match their smaller-engined siblings for standard equipment but add four-zone climate control and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The updates increase the price of the 2.8-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel models by $900, as well as for the range-topping 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel – now $119,700. At $115,300, the supercharged 3.0-litre petrol A6 is also up $1300 from its previous $114,000 price tag announced in January.

Again priced at $3000, the Technik package offered on six-cylinder A6 models adds further equipment over the four-cylinder pack – where not already standard – and includes LED headlights and an electric glass sunroof.

The new standard equipment additions and Technik packages apply to A6 wagon variants as well, with the Avant 2.0 TFSI remaining at $81,800 and the Avant 2.0 TDI increasing $600 to $83,500.
