Please note we are still trying to determine if this is a Kia or a SsangYong which we spotted a few days ago in Australia.
There must be something special about the snow which falls in northern Scandinavia, with Kia joining the long list of manufacturers making the trek to test their latest prototypes in the freezing conditions.
In these spy shots we can see a heavily disguised example of the 2010 Kia Sportage being put through its paces in some rather deep snow.
The new Sportage will benefit from the latest technologies developed by Hyundai-Kia, including the highly efficient new six-speed automatic transmission and 2.0-litre turbo diesel R-engine.
A V6 powerplant is also likely to feature in the range for markets which prefer the added displacement such as the US and Australia, along with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The new Sportage is expected to share its powertrain with the upcoming replacement for its sister car, the Hyundai Tucson, as well as several other models in the Hyundai-Kia line-up.
