Devel Sixteen: Dubai supercar claims 3700kW, 560km/h top speed

Dubai's newest supercar, the Devel Sixteen, has as much power as five Bugatti Veyrons and will reach a top speed of 560km/h, according to its maker.

The Sixteen, named after its rear-mounted V16 engine that produces a claimed 3728kW (5000hp), debuted overnight at the United Arab Emirates’ biggest motor show flanked by the ambitious performance claims.

Devel says the Sixteen will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 1.8 seconds before reaching the top speed that claims to humble the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s 431km/h production car world land speed record.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Devel has no proof to back up the Sixteen’s lofty claims at this stage.

Dubious figures aside, the Devel Sixteen features an undeniably eye-catching design, appearing to take inspiration from the Lamborghini Veneno on the outside and the Koenigsegg Agera in the cockpit. There’s also more than a hint of Batmobile about the twin rear afterburners.

If the as-yet-unannounced price tag is anywhere near as outrageous at its performance claims, the Sixteen is likely to remain in Dubai in the hands of sheikhs and oil barons.
