Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG: Brabus-tuned beast joins Dubai police force

The Dubai police force has a new recruit, a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG tuned by Brabus.

Based on the 400kW/760Nm twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8-powered Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, the Brabus-tuned beast – dubbed the Brabus B63S 700 Widestar – sees power rise another 114kW, creating a genuine 514kW, body-on-frame performance off-roader.

As a result of Brabus’ input, the SUV is able to reach a top speed of 240km/h, after passing 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. Of course, these figures may seem somewhat slow in comparison to those of the cars already on the Dubai police fleet such as the Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77, Ferrari FF and Lamborghini Aventador, and the recent additions of an Audi R8Nissan GT-R, and Mercedes SL63 AMG.

Finished in white with green police decals, the SUV also gains a roof-mounted light bar, additional LED lighting at the front, 23-inch alloys and Dynamic Ride Control suspension.

Despite the car’s off-road potential, the G63 will mainly be used as part of the Dubai police force’s version of the ‘Tune It! Safe!’ campaign, which began in Germany, encouraging tuners to modify their cars safely and legally.

The Brabus B63S 700 Widestar is currently on display at the Dubai motor show.
