Sad but true ..like the man said. "The dash is a piece of crap". Saw it, felt it, sat in it, at the NY auto show.
Same old thin hollow matell plastic. You can actually pull at it on the sides of the console with one finger. Back interior side panels same crap. The center gauges aren't even separate, but molded in one cheap piece. Retro it one thing, but cheap and no improvement on the interior is another. This will have creaks and rattles for years. Once the heat deflects, twists, and warps that plastic you are going to have some problems. Think that's bad just wait till it gets cold and a piece cracks at the tip or the edge breaks off at the clips, like the old ones. Exterior is great, but how could GM have been so stupid. They have now lost a loyal customer. 3 camaro's and 36 years. I'm tired of the same old rattles and problems.

Captain Mainwaring,

Please explain to us what is crap about the dash? If it's just the design, as i said it's retro, perhaps you should take a look at the older camaro for some insight? if it's for other reasons, please be a little more detailed than 'the dash is just cr****p'.

To be honest there are plenty of non-retro new vehicle which have average dash designs and material quality.

Until you can touch and feel the new camaros dash in person, you simply can't judge accurately the material quality or fit and finish.

why do the Americans keep thinking in the past instead of looking to the future.
Why dont B&W tv's in the US make a come back?
That car looks crap should have done somthing smart and monaro'd the VE but the designers over there would have placed a crome grille on it and they would have stuffed it to.

Retro doesn't have to mean crap, and that dash is CR*****P
The rest of it's not too good either. Might have been OK if launched in 2005 (when the pics came out), but not 5 years later.
Destined for a sales disaster. What remains of the market has moved on.

Unfortunately Turbodewd - GM have said that [at this stage]they don't have any plans to export the Camaro to Australi.. However they are going to make a limited run of RHD Camaros for the UK.

However; given that they have also put any plans for development of any future RWD platforms on ice for the time being.
There is the possibility that Holden could do a similar thing to what they did with the VT - that is develop their own coupe using the Zeta platform [via a top secret after hours project] given that they will have to use the Zeta platform for the next 10 years or so

Note: I said it's a Possibility.. I am not Promising anything like some people believe that I did in relation to Holden building the Torana on another topic.

Because just as Ford have shown with the Inline 6 getting the axe and then getting a reprive a couple of months later... things change and anything is possible
