Ford Mustang: 2013 SEMA concepts revealed

One of the most original examples of automotive customisation will be the Hollywood Hot Rods Ford Mustang GT Convertible with a removable aluminium roof that took 250 hours to form.

Another 150 hours was needed to reshape the entire rear section in metal for the Mustang project. All body modifications including the front splitter, side scoops, skirts and diffuser are fabricated in aluminium.

Under the bonnet is a 5.0-litre V8 using a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger and Banks Straight-shot Water Methanol injection system to deliver an estimated 559kW of power.

Ford also partnered with Nitto to create the Mustang Flame with a custom BASF R-M Onyx Race Red paint job, 3dCarbon body kit and GT500-style grille by Classic Design Concepts.

The 5.0-litre Coyote V8 under the bonnet is paired with a list of Ford Racing Performance parts including 65mm twin-bore throttle body and matching air intake, with Tune Logics providing the software.

The car is finished off with a set of Niche Plus wheels and Nitto NT05 Max performance tyres.

Finally, there’s the Yellow Jacket Mustang built by Vortech Superchargers and Neil Tjin.

The colour was inspired by the fact that Ford doesn’t offer yellow on the 2014 Ford Mustang.

Importantly, there’s a VortechV-3 supercharging system under the bonnet, allowing the 5.0-litre V8 engine to deliver 451kW and 641Nm of torque with 0.5 bar of boost.
