Mercedes-Benz CLA station wagon for 2015

The wagon version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA will launch in 2015, reports industry journal Automotive News.

The wagon version, which will be dubbed the CLA Shooting Brake, was essentially confirmed by Benz designer Gorden Wagener earlier in 2013. It will offer similar styling to the larger CLS Shooting Brake and offer more rear headroom and luggage space than the CLA sedan.

It will mark the fifth model based on the latest Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front-drive Architecture), joining the A-class and B-class hatchbacks, the CLA sedan and GLA SUV.

The report in Automotive News says that the long-rumoured CLA convertible has been scrapped, as has the CLA-based roadster. However, both variations could come with the next iteration of the platform in about five years.

Mercedes-Benz has already launched the CLA sedan in Australia with a two-model line-up, including the CLA200 and CLA45 AMG.

They will be joined by the diesel CLA200 CDI in February and in April by the mid-level petrol CLA250 Sport.
