Does this make you the first car site in Australia to have these?

    If so, well done!

How do I get access to these pics?

  9. Vote -1 Vote +1Paxton
    says:

    I don’t know.

It looks like a VE Commodore from the front, but not having seen Orion, I don’t know.

Oh, and Let’s see the Hi-Res images.

  10. Vote -1 Vote +1Lisa
    says:

Hard to tell what it is ? Looks like it has vents in the front guard like the VE though. Oh hang on he has his arm out the roof hanging on to it. Must be a Commodore.

    says:

Yes, well done on the first Orion pics. PLEASE – how do we access the hi-res shots? It says use ‘comments’ (??) but there’s no links there either. Please explain Pauline! Cheers, Brian.

    says:

wow! these are the first pics! the rear looks hatchbackish, the ve commodore used a similar camoflauge (inserts at the rear to break up the lines)

could i please have acces to the high res shots?

    oh and EXELLENT WORK!

Good to see the photographer spying on the proving ground facility. I’m sure you will be able to get better pictures with the car being currently tested on the open roads. ;)

  14. Vote -1 Vote +1Photographer
    says:

There are high resolution pictures available, but they don’t show any greater detail. They’re simply high resolution shots from a distance.

These photos were taken around 200m away with a 200mm telephoto lens from the spot seen in the photos; it was hard – bordering on impossible – to get photos any closer without breaking the law.

    says:

Man! I must be losing my site as I age . . . hatchback? . . . VE Commodore? . . . front guard vents? . . . I can only see a car with camoflague which could be a current BF for all I can tell and I think I’m OK at spotting these things normally. I’m all for spyshot scoops too (especially Orion) but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was only a BF. God forbid it’s the Orion that wheels photoshoped last edition – that thing was horrid but so little changed from BF that anything could lurk under that camo. Keep the faith Fordies! Cheers, Brian.

    Well done!!

Photos smell of You Yangs :-)

You can get photos of the Orion on the Western Ring Road each morning

BUT They have all the black tape and car bra rubbish all over them

Wont be long and we shall see more and more of them undressed

    Its Wheels COTY 08′ LOL

    Cheers

    ottoau.

Despite all the car bras and things of the sort, we want to see any spy photos you can get your hands on. So feel free to send any decent shots through.

We are willing to pay money for any decent enough photos. Despite the common misconception, Wheels/MOTOR et al., don’t actually pay money for spy photos. They’ll simply throw you a 12-month subscription of sorts.

What about the dark car behind the trees in the higher res shots, could that be Orion?

  20. Vote -1 Vote +1Lisa
    says:

Naa roof looks to high for a sedan. Mind you why are the guys next to it looking at that and not the Car Bra car thing? Could it be a VE under wraps being tested by Ford against the Orion under the tree ? Tricky ?

It looks like the VE, and it does look like a hatchback too, but good work on getting pic’s but it’s too hard to tell what it is. : (

  23. Vote -1 Vote +1Lazybones
    says:

I don’t think the car we’re looking at is the New Falcon. This car (whatever it is) is definately a hatchback. Check out the top right pic in the group of 4. None of the locally made cars are Hatches. If Ford were going to shock us with a Hatchback version of the Falcon, then it would most likely be competing with the up coming Mondeo.

    My Guess:-

    A) Ford are disguising a Focus to keep us guessing, or to somehow test/compare something

    B) Somekind of future concept car. Gorman has hinted the future of the Falcon may be in doubt.

this is def the new falcon
have a look at the last shot, you can see its a sedan not a wagon, its just got lots of bits on it to confuse you,
more shots should become available soon!

  25. Vote -1 Vote +1Cuey
    says:

Hmmmmmmmmmm, hard to tell in the end really. Although the sloping headlights to give the impression of Ford, but very hard to tell.

Until some more visually identifible pics come out, i don’t think these can be claimed as Orion. If we get some pics which look like the car in these, where we can see some detail, then these pictures can claim to be the 1st!

Dear photographer, it’s great that you did the work to get these pics, but did you say you were using only a 200mm lens?.

Say it wasn’t so. Otherwise speak to the editor and grab a 500 or something sim ilar, stake the place aout and bring us some more great shots.

The car looks great, I just hope the Orion is sufficiently good looking and has all the right upgrades to beat Commodore in the market place and restore some pride.

Ford also needs a better base for V8 Supercars.

The 50/50 weight distribution of the VE with the shorter nose and stiffer body and more aggressive looks is a goood place to start, and more power in the engines – specialy the Boss V8’s would also be handy – any Dual VCT in the V8’s yet ?

    Come on Orion!!

Sorry guys, its just a VE Commodore, ford wouldnt make a falcon that looked so much like an old holden.

Hopefully ford dont stuff the new model as sales have fallen badly in US, if it doesnt sell kiss the blue oval good bye locally.Any one know if the 6lt boss motor rumors are true? I read it wont make it here from the states in time for 08 if it gets produced at all?

as a wanna be car designer i have spend a little while doin up sketches of what i think the new falcon would/should look like. and after seeing these pics i must say that im just a tad disapointed :( i know its early days so far but i just cant help thinking that my sketches looked better :(. hopefully i wil be proven wrong by ford :)

Hey everyone, i was so excited once i found this article and after reading all of the comments i decided to have a closer look. i found in the bunch of four photos below the bigger ones that when you englarge then you can see a bit more detail. But the photo that i noticed was the second one, and if you take a look at it you can see the car on its side a little bit….. IT’S A HATCH!!!!!! i think that the only chance of these pictures showing the orion is the black cr behind the tree.

sorry but i dont think that these photos can be regarded as clear shots of the new orion.

But if anyone finds and photos of the orion post them for everyone to enjoy

    cheers

i join the group of people who think this is not actually the new falcon. i reckon its a VE or even as someone else has suggested maybe a focus. i know the headings say new falcon spy shots but even that is only speculation. and if you compare the shots taken of the ones driving on roads they are not the same vehicle as these.

I really don’t think this is the next Falcon either. As Ford had a lot catching up to do after the AU, as they would no doub’t have some soul seaching this time.

    benjie and missile,
yes it is interesting to reflect but i still believe that at least one of the cars we were getting shots of was a VE.
there is clearly 2 different ones getting around and it has been stated elsewhere that ford had been using their own and others as disguised mules

Seen the new Falcon today driving along Horseshoebend Road, Torquay at about 1030am. There where two cars following it and one in front of it. Its a great way to get everybodys attention as it did for me. Great camoflauge they use on it but the FORD badges stood out. I bet they be takin it on the Great Ocean road to give it a good run.
