Hyundai Legato coupe: SEMA concept revealed

The Hyundai Legato concept has been revealed in design sketches ahead of its in-metal unveiling at next month's 2013 SEMA motor show in Las Vegas.

Based on the North American market's Genesis coupe, the Hyundai Legato concept coupe is the result of the Korean brand's collaboration with ARK Performance tuners, and features a modified exterior, increased performance output and interior refinements.

Externally, the car is fitted with unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a deck lid and wide body cues, while Hyundai says the “racing silver colour maximises surface visibility”.

Inside, the Legato coupe features a unique steering wheel and seats, a digital gauge cluster and an upgraded audio system, which all sound a tad tame for an aftermarket show such as SEMA.

The concept car also runs a version of the Genesis coupe’s 3.8-litre V6 tuned to a healthy 298kW and 576Nm – up from the standard car's 260kW/400Nm. ARK carbon brake pads also help bring the Legato to a stop.

Hyundai Motor America vice president of product planning Mike O’Brien said the ARK Legato concept demonstrates the compelling appeal and versatility of the original Genesis coupe production concept.

“Ark Performance has taken this original concept and expanded its appeal to the most demanding premium coupe owners at a whole new level,” O’Brien said.

Hyundai seems to be taking over SEMA, with the Legato concept representing the car maker's third entrant to the automotive trade show, following the Yellowcake Veloster Turbo and 1000kW Genesis coupe.

SEMA kicks off on November 5.
