  • Devil666

Why is there a Corolla on this list? Who is this troll?

    • DAVID.ZYK

BECAUSE ITS THE WORLDS MOST POPULAR CAR?

      • jsry

READ THE VERY FIRST WORLD IN THE TITLE

        EUROPEAN car of the year.

Corolla is not at all popular in Europe.

        • CAZZO

BUT COROLLA IS ON THE LIST DRONGO!!

    • lk-90

Why is there a Mazda 3 ? Not even a new car !

      • sfg

There’s a new one coming and it’s can go for the award if it’s going on sale before the end of the year in Europe.

  • BP

My bet’s on either BMW i3, Jaguar F-Type or Mazda 3. I’d go the latter.

    • Zaccy16

Yep i agree, the range rover sport and great new octavia might have a look in too, the mazda 3 deserves it or the fantastic new f type!

  • Shak

I’m thinking the Tesla Model S may just surprise a few people and clinch the title.

    • Dan

Don’t kid yourself. It has as much a chance as a 7 series BMW of making it on the list.

      • Shak

Why couldn’t a 7 Series make it on the list? Also, if you have a look the Tesla is already on the list.

        • Dan

          Oops. didn’t see the tesla.

    • Jacob

      Yeah, Tesla is a breakthrough.

Hundreds of kilometres on a single tank, er, bank of batteries.

    • Karl Sass

I agree, it’s the only car on the list that stands out as something completely new, desirable and different.

    • fgh

Considering the Nissan Leaf has won this award before, it shouldn’t be too hard for the Tesla to do it. Tesla has been far more warmly received and has got far better reviews and won more (other) awards than the Leaf.

      • Tesla Fan

Is it OK to be a a Tesla enthusiast, having driven one, they are truly amazing and in due course I’ll have a model x. For me a leaf is what a koala eats.

    • azlan

i totally agree they are selling very well, usually a cheaper car wins this but because of the ‘eco friendliness’ of this car i could see them awarding it to the tesla.

  • Ben

Surely it has to be the Mitsubishi Space Star….

    • fj

Can’t for the life of me understand how that got nominated. It’s only got average at best reviews here as the new Mirage.

  • Robin_Graves

Seeing its rigged I reckon seat leon or octavia. Only option left for veeduds

    • F1orce

Yeah whoever does the most amount of hand greasing will take the title..

      • Golfschwein

Unless it’s the Lexus, of course.

  • quivive

Damn poor year if cars like the Forester, RAV4 etc are included. No standout in a dull field.

    • g

I find the awards where entries must be newly released for that particular year silly. What if the model released from last year is still the best car?

Or a newly released model is actually worse than the model it replaces (The Space Star which we call Mirage here doesn’t seem to be any better than the Mirage from 15 years ago!).

Then BMW gets to double dip with entries by giving their 2 door 3 series a different name whilst Merc gets the other end with it’s CLK having been merged with E class range & only gets one entry.

  • Daniel

And the winner is…The Volkswagen Golf! We know it wasn’t on the list, but eh.

    • barry

Ha,ha,ha Daniel. Before I read this article I just assumed veedud had multiple entries as allways. With all reliability issues forgotten.

      • hgjkl;

Would be hard to ‘remember’ reliability issues for any nominees when they’re either not even on sale yet or have only just been released.

  • WQe

Mazda 3 or else its just “promote euro” sham.
