2009 Kia ‘VG’ luxury sedan spied

The Korean car industry has been making waves in the automotive world recently, flourishing in the wake of the global economic slump thanks to an impressive range of cheap, practical and affordable vehicles.

Having carved a niche for itself, the Kia badge is no longer something to be self conscious of and as a result the brand is now testing an all new near-luxury sedan known only by its codename “VG”.

Like many other manufacturer prototypes, this model was caught undergoing winter testing in northern Scandinavia, with our spy photographers complimenting the vehicle for its stunning lines – reminiscent of the recently released VW Passat CC.

The Kia VG will be closely related to the Hyundai Grandeur and will presumably be powered by a range of 3.3-litre to 3.8-litre V6 engines.

The range could also potentially gain a 4.6-litre V8-powered flagship model with all-wheel-drive.

From these images we can see at the very least the new model will incorporate LED tail lights, projector headlamps at the front and dual exhaust outlets.

Kia is expected to present its new VG model either as a concept or in production form in August 2009.
