Ford Focus Ambiente: base model updated with cruise control

The Ford Focus Ambiente has been updated with the addition of cruise control, putting the entry-level model into line with the rest of its range.

Added to the standard equipment list of both hatch and sedan variants, the Ford Focus Ambiente specification update is joined by a new $50 option for Ambiente and Trend lines to gain lumbar support control for drivers and front passengers.

Ford says the addition of cruise control to Ambiente models was in response to customer feedback. The higher-specced Trend, Sport, Titanium and ST models remain unchanged.

The two new features are available from September-build cars.

Powered by a 92kW/159Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder, the Ford Focus Ambiente starts at $20,290 and includes 16-inch steel wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Ford’s voice-activated SYNC system with Bluetooth connectivity.

To the end of August, Ford has sold 13,408 Focus units, trailing behind the Toyota Corolla (28,596), Mazda 3 (27,729), Hyundai i30 (19,824) and Holden Cruze (17,339) in its segment.
