Bravado Banshee: Grand Theft Auto getaway car made

The Bravado Banshee, a two-seat sports car featured in several Grand Theft Auto games, has made an unlikely jump from cyberspace to reality.

A three-dimensional, road-going version of the car has been created by West Coast Customs, a remodelling company best known for their appearances on shows like Pimp My Ride and Street Customs.

The Bravado Banshee was first seen in GTA III, where it featured as the main getaway car of that game.

West Coast Customs says the Banshee is a “symbol of the ultimate American sports car”, a claim that isn’t too far-fetched – the Banshee bears more than a passing resemblance to the Dodge Viper on which it's based.

In order to build the Banshee, moulds for the car were pieced together by hand and assembled to create a “screen accurate reproduction”. The hand-made trend continues inside, with hand-stitched surfaces, embroidered seat fronts, and carbon inlays on the dash, doors and fascia.

The car is finished in the same, distinctive blue and white racing scheme as the car from the video game. It also features an impressive side-exhaust and comically elongated rear wing.

The unveiling of the Banshee coincides with the release of a trailer for GTA V, which is curiously devoid of actual cars.

It is possible to become the exclusive owner of the Banshee, but you will need luck on your side; the one-of-a-kind vehicle is only up for grabs in a contest being held in the US. If a plane fare to the states doesn’t quite seem worth it, you can always get your hands on the Banshee in the same way most people will... through a copy of GTA V.
