Laraki Motors Epitome: 1305kW concept revealed

Little-known Moroccan sports car maker Laraki has rolled out its 1305kW Epitome concept at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Laraki Epitome, a $2-million rebodied C6 Corvette, flaunts a heavily sculpted carbonfibre skin with a near-endless amount of slashes and curves.

As well as allowing the designers to endow the car with its outrageous styling, the carbonfibre construction helps bring the car’s weight down to an impressive 1270kg, similar to that of a Toyota Corolla.

Under the car’s bonnet lies a 7.0-litre twin-turbo Chevrolet V8 producing 895kW. However, Laraki has added an extra gas tank to the car, meaning it can hold both regular and 110-octane fuel at the same time. As a result, when told to burn petrol from both tanks simultaneously, the Epitome’s output rises to the full 1305kW.

Laraki Motors was established in 1999 as the brainchild of super-yacht designer Abdeslam Laraki, who previously designed yachts for the king of Bahrain. At last word the company was closed as of 2008, following the failure of the firm’s two concept cars in 2002 and 2005 to make production.

Laraki is, however, now saying it has plans to produce at least nine Epitomes worldwide.
