Whats the latest on this vehicle?

Looks interesting, wish they bring in the wagon version with the fangled-suto tranny.MUST be stealth, needs to lose the front buck-tooth opening..[well for me anyway]

Take a rain-check on bench-seat and lpg at this time! :-)

the price starts at GSR under 60k – 59,990 the next will be under 65k – 64990 and the MR with all the go fast bits under 70k – 69,990 all plus on road costs (aust prices)

I love the new EVO X, the looks are a little Audi-ish but, mean looking non the less. I hope the new power plant can feel the big shoes the 4G63 has made. I love the looks it looks like a snake ready to attack. And. what makes me sleep good at night knowing that every evo that hits the market, will just destroy any Honda—>”Poser” that pulls along side it. I hope they make the price the same as the previous US released Evo’s. Long live the ultimate Honda Assassin EVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m looking forward to an Evo X FQ-360. I reckon the exterior looks great. The GS should have kept the rear spoiler. It looks a bit funny without it. As for the price tag, i don’t reckon it’ll be $70k starting price. I reckon the standard Evo X will keep up with the new Nissan GTR around the track. Anyway, go the Evo!!!

for the guy who asked about seven grand launches, go back to the imports wher parts are cheep when you destroy the gear box. why buy a car that isnt built for drag??? the car is built to turn and turn well, yes, you can launch hard but even my 12 year old brother could go down the drag strip. once you have perfected the art of driving fast including cornering, then buy an evo x. leave the car for those who can truely enjoy it so…!!! i have a pre order on the MR and im glad they made the cheep GSR slower. I cant wait till April as Bell garage in Sydney already has all the good bits lined up for me.

I have the Japanese brochure, full manual gear box is an option on the whole range for the domestic market. GSR version loses the 18inch rims, Recaros and Brembo brakes it seems. GSR model 2,997,750 yen about $30,000 au. With the fruit it’s about $42,000au (incl. leather option, suspension etc.)

The R32 which has the same kind of transmission (two clutches) had launch control, where you can rev it and then launch… I would assume the Evo would have a similar function considering one of the major advantages of AWD is the traction you can get from standstill!

“Automated” gear box? I hope this doesn’t mean the end of 7 grand launches.

The GSR version reportedly has a full manual gear box.

Order now and you will be guaranteed a price ceiling. The early bird will get the worm as there will be build restrictions – the US market is currently taking up a large majority of normal Lancer production – it is selling at more that 160% of the forecast since the GS platform model was released. So you can imagine what will happen when the performance hungry Yanks get their hands on the X.

If you’re one of those purist types (usually the knob jockies who by the cheap imports) you might not like this one – it’s a bit more refined. Not to worry – looks like Mits have worked out there are too many well heeled gen X & Y’s to leave it so raw. Anyway, what else would you drive in this range particularly when Scoobie have used the old Daewoo designers.

If you cant see the value in EVO X you can always wait longer for its little brother the GSR to come out. EVO X will be at the Sydney Motorshow (two of them in fact, albeit JDM models not AUDM) and the release Nationally is earmarked for March at the Melbourne International Motorshow. The first EVO X’s will hit showrooms in April, but expect to see the first bunch already sold as MMAL have been told by its dealer network that there are already quite a few orders fullfilled. (remember the 2 doot STi’s all 399 of them were sold in a heartbeat)

As for the features, Mitsubishi have been listening to you, and the focus groups have to Mitsubishi Motors that aswell as having performance in mind, they also want a classy interior and list of standard equipment that surpases Subaru, and this I am proud to say has been accomplished.

There will be both auto and manual available, aswell as smart key, 7 air bags including knee bag, bilsteins, eibachs, rockford fosgate premium sound system, cruise control, alcantra interior, 18″ wheels etc etc etc…

Evo X has been packaged will and only the Auto will be pricy, but the manual will remain near or on current EVO 9 pricing given the exchange rate at the moment with the yen.

The AU dollar buys quite a bit of kit at the moment, and you can exepect quite a bit of car from ralliart in the coming months.

I am glad now they made the Evo more accessable to people of all abilities (just don’t tell the missus though). The only concern I have is the combination of auto (dual clutch yes but still an auto, you can’t take off on boost), front-mount intercooler and 2.0ltr instead of 2.5 as with STI, the car might suffer on low down torque and top speed.
And as previously stated, not sure how the new cylinder construction will cope with engine mods(eg. higher compression, etc)

I have owned the Mitsubishi Evo VI and currently own an Evo VII. I like Mitsubishi’s and I will certainly acquire an Evo X when finances allow. In comparison, it looks quite okay for an african fellow like me. It has retained the race ready looks which is key hear and with fully loaded extras I think it will be a serious customer on road. Maybe the rear needs that egg like look as the traditional lancer’s have always been and the spoiler needs to be in line with shape too like the previous evos. thanks

My only concern about this newest generation of Evo’s is whether or not the new aluminum engine will respond well to mods, be as easy to work on and hold as much power as the outgoing 4g63 (which is a monster among children in the engine world).

I am fairly happy with the cars exterior looks. Sure, it looks a little funny on a front on still image but the paint colour it is in isn’t doing it all that much justice. Having said that, I am over-satisfied with the interior, and I can also see where the design is going to head with he facelift XI and XII models in the coming years. I wouldn’t mind seeing a black or bright yellow one. I actually liked the red mica sort of colour originally when the car was in prototype and included the led taillights, side repeaters, and those beautiful led front headlight bits. As for the performance, it is somehow going to have better handling compared to the IX which is another great achievment by MMC to take out the crown for the best handling production car…again. The performance, O-100 in 4.5 seconds! The outgoing model is made more for track and cornering, but this one has the power to keep up with so many other cars in straight line (only referring to the base model FQ280 evo). No longer do you need to be scared of a modded R34 GTR in your Evo and it can keep up with the upcoming R34 GTR. This car is bound for success and Mitsubishi is definetly heading in the right direction. As for the performance, if this is true, I can’t wait to see a TMR version from MMAL in coming years, the automotive Gods (or just Rob Mcinery) may have unswered my prayers for an equivelant to the FQ360. Only time will tell.

Seriously, can you guys stop speculating about the price? If Mitsubishi decide to price this above $60k they will be shooting themselves in the foot. This is a company that was on the brink of collapse only a few years ago (and only recently made their first profit for quite some time) and to price their flagship vehicle at 20% above the current model is not only unjustified but suicidal.

They have to compete “in the segment” and, with the new STI due around the same time they would look a tad foolish to increase the price. We already get ripped off enough with car prices here in Australia as it is. Even more so when you consider the strong $AU (points to the price reduction on the RX8).
