Audi A4 and A5 Sport Edition boost value

Twin 250-unit Audi A4 Sport Edition and 150-unit Audi A5 Sport Edition models have been released, adding extra features to the base petrol and diesel automatic grades.

Available on the A4 sedan, and A5 Sportback, coupe and cabriolet models, the Sport Edition includes 19-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, satellite navigation, xenon headlights with rear LED lights (A4-only, already standard on A5) and sports front seats and wheel.

It adds to standard equipment including leather trim, rear parking sensors, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and automatic headlights and wipers.

The A4 1.8T Sport Edition is priced $5500 higher than the standard A4 1.8T, at $59,900, yet adding the above equipment to the standard car would usually cost close to $10K.

The Sport Edition is alternately available in A4 2.0 TDI guise for $62,390, while the A5 Sport Edition line-up includes the $70,700 2.0 TFSI and $72,500 2.0 TDI coupe and Sportback, and the $83,440 2.0 TFSI and $85,840 2.0 TDI cabriolet.

Equipped with the 1.8 TFSI engine, the A4 musters 125kW of power and 320Nm of torque, and with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) claims 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds. For the extra $2400 the A4 2.0 TDI gets 130kW and 380Nm, keeps the CVT, and reduces the 0-100km/h sprint to a claimed 7.9 seconds.
