This car looks good in the flesh. It has a cavernous load area, very tidy inside, doesn't come with the Korean cheap new car smell that the Barina still has, and has a pleasant dash and instrument layout.

In the 2.0 litre cheap and cheerful class, this car is a standout. I like it better than the Mazda3, Corolla, Astra et al. I wouldn't buy it for me, because I require an enthusiast's car, but I was looking at it for a new car for my 80yo Mum. It is easier to see out of than the rest, including the nice large mirrors, the dash buttons weren't too small for arthritic fingers, and the car is not an electronic powerhouse requiring a technical genius to navigate all the options/adjustments. In auto form it would not be too fast for her slowing reaction time.

The only car that came close might be the Cruze, due to its excellent looks, reasonably good interior (could lose the chrome rings around the dials for matt silver) and most important a 6 speed Auto which only the Euros can match (but they're not in the cheap and cheerful class)

This car rather shows up the Peugeot 308 wagon - it is far cheaper, and looks less contrived, and can be bought with an automatic diesel without costing the earth.

This car complements Hyundais lineup & will be a real winner. I only hope there is no supply problems as a lot of people don't like waiting months for their car to arrive.

Cheers !
