Holden Trax brochure shots released ahead of August launch
Images of the Holden Trax at an official photo shoot have been released ahead of its mid-August launch.
Despite their low resolution, the brochure shots give us our first look at the production version of the sub-compact Trax SUV.
Our only other look at Holden’s new Barina-based crossover has so far come in the form of a computer-generated image released by the car maker more than 12 months ago.
The Holden Trax will lead a wave of new entrants into Australia’s booming sub-compact SUV segment, with the Peugeot 2008, Ford EcoSport, Renault Captur and Opel Mokka all destined for local showrooms in the coming months.
Specifics of Holden’s Trax line-up will be confirmed closer to its local launch. Three four-cylinder engines are available overseas: an 85kW/155Nm 1.6-litre petrol, a 96kW/300Nm 1.7-litre diesel and the 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol from the Cruze.
The entry-level 1.6-litre petrol is available exclusively in front-wheel-drive, while the turbo petrol and diesel models can be optioned with an on-demand all-wheel-drive system.
At 4248mm long, 1766mm wide, 1674mm tall and riding on a 2555mm wheelbase, the Trax is similar in size to the Mitsubishi ASX, while its 358-litre boot puts it on par with most small hatchbacks.
The Holden Trax is expected to launch with a low-$20,000s starting price when it arrives in showrooms next month.
CarAdvice will be at the Australian launch of the Holden Trax on August 13-14.
