Select European markets will get quicker and more powerful versions of the Ford Fiesta ST and Ford Focus ST hot-hatches thanks to a partnership between the Blue Oval and tuning expert Mountune.

The Mountune-enhanced Focus ST’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine produces 202kW of power and 400Nm of torque, up 18kW/40Nm on the standard hot-hatch. The tuned version accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.95 seconds, outgunning the standard Focus ST by more than half a second.

Enhancements to the Ford Focus ST Mountune include a cast alloy inlet duct, high-flow air filter element, and a larger alloy intercooler.

The Fiesta ST Mountune pocket-rocket gets a similar set of upgrades, including a remodelled air box base with secondary inlet duct and a high-flow filter element.

Output from the tuned Fiesta ST’s 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rises from 132kW and 290Nm (on overboost) to 158kW of power and 320Nm of torque. The Mountune edition’s 6.7sec 0-100km/h sprint time is two-tenths faster than the factory model.

Ford says the Mountune packages can be fitted at its dealerships in 60-90 minutes and are fully compatible with the manufacturer’s new-car warranty.

The Mountune packages will be available from September, with the Fiesta ST upgrade priced at £599 ($980) and the Focus ST from £1225 ($2000).

Don’t see the point for 2/10ths or 1/2 a second on an already quick reliable road car. waste of money.

Its not just about 0-100 times, more torque everywhere improves in gear acceleration etc. Bigger intercooler would help prevent heat soak in our climate as well.

    • Phil

that’s because you’ve ignored the important numbers. The Fiesta’s 50-100kmh time in 4th is 0.7sec better, which points to a worthwhile torque increase and better in gear performance.

      • adf

A somewhat useful improvement but in reality, typical hot hatch drivers won’t be using 4th gear when they want to accelerate quickly from 50kmh. They’ll be dropping to 2nd.

I drive a chipped 9n Polo, I know how much the extra torque improves drive ability. It makes it a much easier car to live with. Sure, you can change down to wring the maximum out of it, but most everyday driving you don’t need to. Granted the Fiesta won’t see the same massive improvement I did, but 11 percent torque gain is well worthwhile.

huwtm, it’s not all about 0-100 numbers mate, it’s the driveability, the spread & increase of torque, in gear acceleration, not to mention better sounds as well & all under new car warranty ! But they are probably things you don’t understand, obvious from your comment.

  • Brayden Cresswell

More torque the better for building speed I like.

  • Mightyfour

Wow thats actually really good value for the performance increase. Considering other manufacturers will charge similar for just tacky visual add-ons.

    • JooberJCW

Agree 2k for a tune, intercooler and better intake sounds like good value,

      • matt

much better then side skirts and black wheels on a BRZ for 8k.

        • v_lion

          spot on !

    • Dave W

That’s more than just really good value… that’s excellent value!!

  • Poison_Eagle

    Mountune is sexy.

These upgrades are more in line with where the Astra OPC and RS 265 are.
