The great American holiday road trip just became a bit more exciting. Hertz USA has announced it will be launching a ‘Dream Car’ program, giving renters the opportunity to step up a notch or two from the average mid-size rental car.

Prices start at US$395 for one day with a Porsche Boxster, and stretch to US$1500 a day for exotica such as the Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430 Spider.

Also in the mix are a selection of AMG products, a Porsche 911, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Nissan GTR at around the US$1000 per day mark.

There is also a Cayenne and Panamera available for those who want the four-door Porsche experience.

This is not the first time Hertz has given renters something properly enticing to consider. They have a similar program in several European countries, and their UK branch even offers a McLaren MP4-12C.

Hertz USA also offers an ‘Adrenaline Collection,’ featuring several muscle cars, including the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro SS.

The company is aiming to provide the service to about 35 markets in the USA, with a focus on West Coast hubs such as LA, Las Vegas and San Diego, which is good news for those flying in from Australia.

By comparison, the Toyota 86 is about as exotic as it gets for Hertz Australia, though we don’t doubt you would still have a lot of fun with that.

US$395 per day for a Porsche Boxster?? You could easily finance one for a lot less than that.
