Transformers 4 Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro revealed

Transformers 4 director Michael Bay has officially revealed the new Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee, set to star in the upcoming film.

Although the new Bumblebee Autobot sports a familiar black and yellow paintjob, it features a slightly restyled body compared to the recently revealed Camaro facelift.

The car’s slimmer, more angular headlights and grille are paired with reprofiled front and rear bumpers, larger rear fenders, a fixed rear wing and Aston Martin-style flush doorhandles, giving the car a more modern appearance compared to the production car's retro-styling.

Bumblebee is the undisputed car-star of the film series, though it will have its work cut out during its next outing. The film will also feature another Chevy performance car, the new-for-2014 Corvette Stingray, as well as a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, Pagani Huayra and Lamborghini Aventador.

In the past, General Motors has capitalised on the fame of Bumblebee by launching a special ‘Transformers-Edition’ Camaro into the market.

When the Camaro went on sale in North America in 2009 there was speculation it would make its way to Australia, as the car is built upon GM's global Zeta platform, largely developed by Holden. These plans were shelved soon after.
