Volvo has followed up its confirmation that it will join the V8 Supercars championship from 2014 with a new video highlighting its past racing successes on local turf.
Officially released by Volvo‘s racing partner Polestar, the clip shows glimpses of the 1986 Australian Touring Car Championship-winning Volvo 240T and 1998 Bathurst 1000-winning Volvo S40.
Speaking at yesterday’s official announcement, Volvo Car Australia boss Matt Braid reminded people that Volvo was not just there to make up the numbers.
“We have a strong motorsport heritage both globally and in Australia,” Braid said.
“We are determined to add to [our racing] heritage.”
Racing under Garry Rogers Motorsport, the two Volvo Polestar Racing S60 V8 Supercars are to begin testing later this year.
