2009 Audi TT RS officially unveiled

The Audi TT range has gained a new flagship with the brand officially unveiling its new TT RS Coupe and Cabriolet, both set to make their first public debut at the Geneva motor show.

Both variants are powered by a direct-injection 2.5-litre turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine which produces over 220kw of power and 450Nm.

The performance figures are quite vague; with Audi boasting its new TT RS takes “nowhere near five seconds to reach 100km/h” which one would assume means the mid-to-high four-second region with a top speed of 250km/h.

Power is sent to the ground through Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, with a performance brake package added to keep a tight rein on the power.

Coupled with its lightweight and largely aluminium body constructed as per the Audi Space Frame principle, the Audi TT RS promises to be a genuinely exhilarating driving machine.

Additional specifications will be revealed after the Audi Press Conference at the Geneva Auto Show on March 3.
