Soccer World Cup giving car dealers a hard time

June 9, 2006 by Alborz Fallah

Soccer World Cup giving car dealers a hard timeI started a reading a few reports the last couple of days about the traditional disaster that car dealers are hit with during the Fifa World cup. However many of these reports were basedin Europe so I didn’t take much notice. Nevertheless it is worth noting here in Australia as well. Apparently, sporting events like the Fifa World Cup (and the olympics) take the publics attention away from things like buying a new / used car and so Car Dealers are worried that their sales will decline in the next month.

What does this mean for you? If you are after a new or used car, wait till around the final stages of the Fifa World Cup, most importantly around the World Cup Final held on the 10th of July, admitedly its on at 3:00 am Australian AEST time, but nonetheless, you will be assured that a great deal of people will be a little tired and not looking forward to going and buying a car. Use the prior week to source out your car and go out with the intention to haggle and buy on the 10th of July and you might just get a better deal!

It’s not just the car dealers Alborz, the bike shops feel it too, however we have a lot more intestinal fortitude in dealing with our customers………..they’ll have to be a lot smarter than that to get a deal!
