HSV to auction motoring ‘history’ for Victorian Bushfire Appeal

February 19, 2009 by Paul Maric

HSV has today annouced that it will auction off the front fender from the HSV W427 which collided with a wall of tyres at Oran Park last year.

HSV goes on to say that the prize will also include a ‘hot lap’ with Garth Tander (who happened to be at the wheel when the W427 was stacked into the wall) in a HRT lap car. The auction winner also receives lunch with the man himself at HSV’s Clayton headquarters.

Tander says that the money raised will be a small, but needed contribution to those who have lost everything in the 2009 Victorian Bushfires, dubbed ‘Black Saturday’.

Tander said:

“So many people have lost everything and both HSV and HRT wanted to put together a unique opportunity to make a donation to this most worthy cause.”

‘I’d urge all V8 Supercar fans and motoring enthusiasts to get behind this auction – not only will they be supporting a really worthy cause but it’s a chance to own a pretty special piece of motoring history.”

Keep an eye out late this evening for a set of three auctions CarAdvice will run to help the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009. An FPV auction, HSV auction and assorted auction will host an assortment of automotive erotica to get bids flowing.

Melbourne winners will also be collected and taken out to lunch with the CarAdvice team, we promise to be gentle!

  1. VW Freak says:

C’mon HSV, surely you could auction something better than a stoved guard?!? What about a W427? That’ll raise a LOT more money for the bushfire victims…

  2. B-Man says:

I’d give them $2 for that. Surely they have something better to get rid of in the back shed?

  3. TM says:

Wow a bent piece of crap. How generous can you be?

  4. TM says:

I have 2 worn out tyres and a cracked hubcap(plastic)off a daewoo that would be worth more.I wonder if HSV need a lend of a few bucks to donate.

  5. crouchy says:

Wow that is a really really really poor effort.

Surely Garth Tander is ashamed to be promoting this rubish. All donations are great but from HSV, this is about as exclusive as a VN commodore hubcap.

C’mon, i really cant beleive this is all they can scrape up… pathetic.

  6. Adam says:

I am going along with the consensus here as well.

Quite honestly, this would be one of the worst possible items currently listed on eBay. It is worth about 14 cents.

Come on HSV, that’s a terrible effort.

  7. Adam says:

While I’m here I will have a dig at HSV…lol.

The W427 (mouthful) is the most irrelevant and overpriced vehicle that this country has ever built.

Personally, I think the Senator is a GREAT car that looks smart, has brilliant performance and is worthy of being called a luxury performance tourer.

But the GTS etc are just so God awful to look at, talk about cashed up bogans!

Memo to HSV: Stick with Senator style looks and lose your tacky image.

  8. Bavarian Missile (.)(.) says:

I paid $3,300 for Russell Ingalls front guard that punted off Skaife back in 2003,signed by everyone at Stone Bros so Ill be interested to see what this brings. That was for Variety Club I think.

Would have liked Russel to take me to lunch though :(

I wouldnt have wanted HIM to be gentle though :))))

  9. crouchy says:

Considering the cost of spare parts for this sucker maybe a W427 owner should buy this just incase. lol.

Whats the bet theres a bogan out there goin “i wonder if i can somehow fit this to my fully sick, customised vl turbo!”

  10. lazybones says:

So last night on skynews during the ad break an Audi was being autioned off for the same cause. What do HSV give us “A piece of plastic!!”. And I laughed at the dude who auctioned off the Jesus toast.

  11. Tom says:

How about you auction a VL Walkinshaw or something useful?

Maybe a bathurst winning v8 supercar?

  12. NotTheStig says:

    Very very lame HSV…

  13. Driving Driver says:

How about an HSV clubsport signed by all V8 supercar drivers.

  14. Elitist says:

Some idiot will pay $3000+ for a piece of metal from a soon to be extinct sports event that couldn’t get real companies like Nissan or Toyota to waste their time in.

  15. Minnow says:

Oh come on HSV, this is like saying all the victims are only worth a piece of broken plastic bumper. Pathetic, beyond lame actually. I cant see how a piece of plastic resulting from a drivers error can be worth anything during a PHOTOSHOOT, not a race but because of Tander’s own error. Actually they should be paying someone to get rid of that rubbish.

  16. Reckless1 says:

And here go the tiny brain morons again. Just reading their drivel makes me wonder if they are out of primary school yet.

Someone has worked out that a piece of scrap can be turned into cash to help the victims, and all the idiot morons can do is criticize.

To all of you, take this very hard SLAP and go to bed, it’s late.

  17. lazybones says:

ahhh, thanks Reckless I was feeling a bit tired an puffy around the eyes. Can you get my slippers and make me a Milo.

  18. Bavarian Missile (.)(.) says:

Its over 3k at the moment! The more it goes for the more the victims receive !Thats all that counts!

  19. Phil says:

up to $3075… If they can make money for the red cross from cashed up bogans all power to them.

  20. spetty says:

    HSV i don`t want one

  21. RoFlmaTiC says:

The money is probably more for the hot lap and lunch rather than the fender.

  22. Technofreak says:

    Oh…this is a joke…..right??

  23. Adam says:

I dont think anyone here begrudges the fact that the proceeds will be going to a worthy cause.

However, this is hardly something you would want to have in your posession. It’s sole purpose it to take up space.

We appreciate the gesture HSV, but I’m sure if it was a more desirable item many more people would enter bids and therefore boost the selling price.

  24. Mitchell Oke says:

Expect to see this panel badly fitted to a VL with cable ties soon!

  25. Phil says:

You may not want it, but I’m sure someone will. So stop your bitchin.

  26. bumperbar says:

Piece of dinosuar crap , common just give them $50,000.00
    and stop this charade .

Just another little publicity game , shamefull

  27. Ben Larden says:

    What a disgrace!

  28. Lostforwords says:

One word…Pathetic…This only shows how much Holden care about people’s tragedy…a bit of rubbish up for auction?….is this the best that Holden can do? Or perhaps shows how broke they are.

  29. BK says:

it says it all holden is fallin apart piece by piece. What a joke. hahahhaah to HSV

  30. Richo says:

Whats disgraceful here is that someone is doing something for charity, and your all bashing them over it. What the hell have all you blokes done? I guarantee that 99% of the cry babies posting in this thread hasn’t given a single cent to the cause, but you feel you have the right to criticise a company that is actually doing something?

  31. Richo says:

I see the auction is up to $3,000… isn\’t it dissgracefull that HSV has provided $3,000 for the bushfire victims, i mean how dare they try and help out, what a disgrace, its disgusting that HSV has the nerve to raise $3,000 for charity, i for one and completely outraged, i mean HOW DARE THEY!

  32. Paul Maric says:

Guys, can we keep this civil please?

HSV isn’t the same size as Holden so isn’t in the same position to fork out a tremendous amount of money to donate.

You should all be happy they are actually doing something to raise money for the countless people affected by this tragic set of bushfires.

So take it easy please and remember any money which goes to the appeal, no matter how it’s collected is worthy money.

  33. Elitist says:

In these times Aussie’s are tough, but Holden people are tougher…
