Renault Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 limited edition revealed

Marking the second time Renault and Red Bull have teamed up for a special edition Renault Megane model, the new Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 has been confirmed by Renault Australia to arrive locally early in the fourth quarter of this year, with 120 vehicles ordered.

Taking inspiration from the energy drink company’s F1 livery, the Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 is painted in an exclusive Crepuscule Blue finish with Red Bull Racing graphics at the rear and sides.

Based on the Megane RS265 Cup and retaining its 195kW/360Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, six-speed manual transmission, and limited slip front differential, the Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 gets exterior highlights including an F1-style front bumper blade, door handles, wing mirror housings and rear lip spoiler painted Platinum Grey, while monochrome laurels on the rear side windows celebrate the 2012 Constructors’ world title.

Unique black 19-inch wheels with grey pin-striping also feature, wrapped in the same Bridgestone rubber that helped the French manufacturer claim the 8min08sec front-wheel-drive lap record around Germany’s Nurburgring in the Megane RS265 Trophy.

Inside sees Red Bull Racing branded aluminium sill guards, floor mats, and leather/fabric Recaro seats accompany the latest versions of Renault’s on-board RS Monitor data logging and Connected R-Link multimedia systems – the latter’s multiple functions now controllable via a touchscreen display, voice command or centre console-located joystick.

Priced from €36,000 ($47,000), the Renault Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 will be sold in 26 countries, with sales in France to begin at the end of June.
