Please Volkswagen Can We Have This Car?
This is the new Volkswagen Scirocco, a name which first came into the light back in 1974. Production of the sports hatchback continued all the way till 1992. However, Volkswagen have now decided to bring it back.
With a release date set before the end of the decade, Volkswagen America recently announced that they will not be selling the new Scirocco in the states. Why? because it might potentially eat away sales of the Golf GTI. Plus Americans don’t like “little cars”.
So from all of us here at CarAdvice we are asking Volkswagen Group Australia to please make a business case for this absolutely gorgeous car to come to Australia. It is simply too beautiful to pass up. Besides, if a car can look so good in green, it must be a work of art.
Current details suggest the Scirocco will be powered by a similar engine to that of the Golf GT with a possibility of a six- or seven-speed DSG gearbox.
Please Volkswagen Can We Have This Car? If not, maybe Subaru can hire the designer for the 09 facelift on the impreza. For those interested in hot hatches, have a read of our Golf R32 Review

Now that is by far the sexiest hot hatch, i’ve ever seen. Subura take note!!. I remember being envious of the original Scirocco when my work friend bought one.
If Oz is getting VW GTI Fever (with supply & demand driving up used prices) what the hell is this beast going to do on arrival?
It won’t be on sale in the states because it might make the locals realise just how FUGLY their cars are :)

It is a truly beautiful car,
its hard to imagine how some designers can sit down and make this car, whilst some other designers (cough subaru cough) can sit around and make such a hideous car.
there is actually a car being designed in the states by people on the internet, the Scion (toyota) are putting up concepts of cars and asking what people think and the most liked will go into production!
What a beautiful idea, if only other manufacturers would follow that idea

Great looking car, I love those European VW and Audi designers. By the way, about American cars, the only real decent American designed car is the Scion Tc. It was really smart how it was created though, they got many youthful and creative designers together insead of some big fat man with an accent saying, “well to be a good car it needs a fat thristy engine, unreliable, and a big ugly grille”. Of course there are also decent American made cars by Toyota and Mitsubishi but you can’t count them in because they were usually designed by a Japanese, Russian, or some other European person.

It doesn’t surprise me how often the Europeans get car design absolutely spot on.
The BMW Concept CS and now this! I really hope they bring these cars to Aus!

Pininfarina designed many cars that were awesome for their time. And they still look good by today’s standard. Just look at the Peugeot 405 Mi16. Understated, but still looks great. I think the Citroen C6 looks really stylish… it’s not too photogenic though. You’ve gotta see one in the flesh, and you start to think of European gangsters and mobsters. It’s got that “feel” to it.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pretty American car. I lived there long enough to have a good look too. I have to agree with a lot of what Jeremy Clarkson thinks about US made cars. Sorry guys, but stick to making tools, speakers and bicycles.
I look at this VW and think “wow, very nice”. But I’m not sure how well it will look in 10 years. Will you look back at it and go “tossers, trying to make something look all “prototype” and cool”. Like in the 50’s when they thought we’d all be flying cars by the year 2000.
Anyway, I’m babbling on and it’s my bed time.
Cheers
Steve

Unfortunately the car pictured above will not be the final design.
New VW CEO Martin Winterkorn has asked for a redesign ;)

Yes best hot hatch… side on looks surely Kevin Rudd silly as thin windows leaving narrow glass to look out from. When they release cars over there in Europe (especially VW) they nail the classic designs that look JUST RIGHT. Unlike Ford who are crap opposite since that afterbirth of a car the AU was released… VW CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Very dynamic looking for a Volkswagen, finally they combine german engineering excellence with uber sublime design character. We it comes to Australia i will definitely have a very close look at it! I think the correct pronunciation is si.roc.co isn’t it?
