B-Man, a *full* bucket full of smashed crabs? Can I have that bucket and a li'l bowl of fresh homemade tartare?

I don't think it's that bad, I'd happily park a bucket or three in my garage. And the car too, though it is a somewhat downmarket interior.

4 seats only?! What a joke. This thing will be useless for families. Basically limited to singles or elderly folk whose kids have moved out. Major segment that Mercedes is missing out on.

Nice proportions - still a bit too much on the freighter ship side for my liking though. Give me a nimble A5 anyday.

The new engines are a big improvement. That 250 CGI engine is more powerful than the current 2.5 litre V6 (available in Europe) and yet is more fuel efficient. There is news that this engine will also be in the C-Class later this year. The diesel 250 CDI is already in the C-Class in Europe.

I might buy a new C-250 CGI if it becomes available and if the RRP is around A$68,000.

It looks alright I suppose, with the exception of the interior and that rear window...
Most reports are now saying that it is in fact based on the E-class platform and not the C-class platform as originally reported. Great, but why would you replace the CLK with this? It's moving up a class size, so now M-B has no direct competitor for the 3-series coupe or A5. The natural competitor for this would have to be the 6-series wouldn't it? If M-B adopt their usual pricing strategy, this coupe will be thousands more expensive than the sedan, meaning that BMW and Audi will have the market all to themselves. Seems like a pretty poor strategy to me.

Rear end looks far more resolved than the sedan counterpart - probably the most attractive MB on offer at the moment - will look fantastic with 4 exhaust pipes and a 6.2 V8...

Yep, not my cup of tea. Dont like the front, and what's going on with those wheel arches? Rear 3/4 view? looks OK, a bit like the 2 door BMs (which I like, but dont mention the 4 door) or the C70. What's with the black roof? Another carbon fibre wannabe? Really, it looks like an afterthought. Maybe white is not so flattering - it looks hot on some cars, but they have to be good to start with. And I'm sure that 2 tone interior will date really well (sarcasm, for those who dont recognise it readily), although it is marginally nicer than the XC60's which was truly shocking in the flesh/leather/whatever.

Hmmmm. I seem to be one of the only people that think this is as ugly as a bucket full of smashed crabs. What's with the Lexus front end? I guess it's not quite as bad as the CLS but it's pretty bad.

Sure it is conservative for a reason, it more an evolution of the current model. Mercedes Benz understands if you go to a radical desgn eg Dame Edna/Epica 5 Series look the punters will not purchase the car. BMW have stuck with this formula for the 3 series but have had an epic fail over the years with the 8 series current 6 and 7 series over the years.

I like the new car, love the individaul rears seats like a Sirroco
