Audi Cross Coupe Quattro Concept (Q5)

April 20, 2007 by Alborz Fallah

Audi is on a mission to expand its model to successfully compete with not only BMW and Mercedes but also the Japanese manufacturers. We’ve seen the Audi R8, Audi A5 Coupe, and now, this is the Audi Cross Coupe Quattro Concept.

Even thought its a concept there is a great deal of confidence from the Audi camp that this car will become the Audi Q5. Currently Audi has no car int he Crossover Utility market, and hopes the Q5 will fill the gap of a German luxury cross over in the market.

Before we get too excited about the Audi Q5, lets get back to the concept, which while it might be a dead ringer for the Q5 on the inside, there are some obvious differences on the outside.

  • 20 inch rims,
  • fabric folding roof (they went out of fashion a whole ago didn’t they?)

The Q5 is powered by audi’s tried and tested four-cylinder TDI engine. The engine has an estimated power of 150kW and an enormous 400Nm of torque.

The Cross Coupe concept comes with

  • LED headlights and cornering lights.
  • Bluetec filtering system
  • Haldex AWD
  • S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox
  • ceramic brake discs.

There is currently not much more information regarding when Q5 will go into production, furthermore given the current trends, even if the car was released in Europe next year, Australia would not see the Q5 for some time to come.
