KTM X-BOW may arrive down under
February 12, 2009 by George Skentzos
The incredible X-BOW from Austrian motorbike manufacturer KTM may yet find its way into Australia, with KTM and ABT Sportsline announcing a new partnership today.
As an outlet partner, ABT Sportsline will not only take on the sale of the X-BOW – actually pronounced ‘cross-bow’ – but also all ongoing service work meaning Australian buyers would receive full factory support for the track day weapon.
Not content with leaving well enough alone, ABT Sportsline engineers are also currently working on a suitable power increase for the X-BOW, keen to improve its already blistering performance.
Powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine developing 177kW and weighing in at only 790 kilograms, the X-BOW shifts from zero to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds and is equally impressive around corners.
ABT Sportsline expects to coax as much as 221kW from the engine which is a massive 44kW jump, especially in a car made mostly from carbon fibre.
As the exclusive partner of ABT Sportsline in Australia, RamSpeed have not ruled out bringing this extraordinary car into the country.

Man, 221kw from a 2.0T direct injection engine should be a cakewalk, and should be utterly reliable as well.
Luvly with only 780kg :)
Will they be road registerable?
Yes, this engine will be very reliable, it is afterall similar to the one in Golf GTi. However, having seen videos of this car, the engine is almost silent. I think engine noise is a big part of driving enjoyment
Do want! Ballpark figure in Aus ? I love these.
no road registered, LHD only, buy a Elfin instead!
Fail to see the attraction of these other than belting them round a race track. Driven on the road you’ll only attract the Fuzz and be labelled a Hooner.
Besides it costs twice as much as the Axiel and isn’t much faster.
Cupid – its not a skyline…
Cdc – the fact that its LHD doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t road register it here in Oz because you can still road register cars that are LHD in certain states of Australia – SA and WA.
The maun thing that matters is whether or not it meets Australian Design Regulations
rather an atom
I wouldnt necessary take this car out for shopping, but HELL YEAH on a race track. There, it does not matter if its a LHD – just want to experience the power of this lightweight on a track. Dont like the Efin, weird looking though, X Bow looks just like a bulllet. ABT is also renowned for its awesome engine works, so I will be watching Ramspeed and maybe one day they do a track day with that car. I will be there.
I love it because it is so different to other, like-minded offerings. It would need to be road-registerable and RHD for mine, plus a small storage area for an overnight bag.
Can you imagine the look you would get when people see this for the first time! It looks like KTM got their inspiration from Transformers.
