2010 Mazda CX-7 sneaks into Toronto

The facelifted 2010 Mazda CX-7 has made an understated debut at the Canadian Auto Show, shunted out of the spotlight by the headlining grabbing unveilings at this week's Chicago Auto Show.

This new model brings the CX-7 in line with the new generation Mazda design philosophy which has already been applied to the majority of the range.

A new MZR 2.5-litre normally-aspirated petrol engine has been added to the range, identical to the one found in the current Mazda6.

This produces 120kW of power at 6000rpm and peak torque of 318Nm at 3500rpm, coupled with a five-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive.

The flagship model will continue to use the current MZR 2.3L DISI turbocharged unit which develops 182kW at 5000rpm and 350Nm at 2500rpm.

Along with its obvious exterior transformation, the interior receives a blend of higher quality materials, a new gauge cluster with three-dimensional dials, multifunction display, three-position memory function for the driver's seat and a power adjustable recliner for the passenger's seat.

A blind spot monitoring system has also been introduced, as found on the Mazda6 and CX-9.

Local specifications and pricing for the 2010 Mazda CX-7 will be released closer to the launch date.
