I have had my CX-7 now for 14 months (15,000 km) and I averaged 15 litres per 100km, sometimes closer to 16. This has more to do with the driving style (drive it hard most times and enjoy the turbo) and probably because I have had it since new. Driving it with care just this week, I am averaging 13.1 litres per 100km and have clocked up 300km with just under half a tank left. Also helps with avoiding speeding fines!

I have been thinking for a year that the CX-7 should have a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine from the 6 to compete with the usual 34k auto CR-V's and RAV4s and it happened! Perfect. Interior looks splendid, don't care about the exterior whilst the drive is good. Who said compact SUVs was the chink in Mazda's armour?

Btw I recently test drove a 2.4l RAV4, it has a spacious, attractive, well built interior and very smooth on the road. Liked the boot space & door with the full size spare at the back. The car has not many flaws overall except that the full-size limits rear visibility. Liked the RAV4, 2.4 Outlander is a similar car but with cheaper plastics and more expensive on road costs and no full size spare, but more versatile, spacious and safe with 7 seat option. 2.5 CX-7 will beat them on the road, just waiting for price, specs and economy figures. And will it have a full size spare?

But Tim, it won't be will it? I'm not saying the CX-7 looks very good (anymore) but the Subaru looked outdated when it came out because it wasn't chunky enough and although I wouldn't say it was ugly, it does have the current Subaru awkwardness. It doesn't have the best dynamics either, not bad but not class leading. It has a really cheap interior aswell. I think the Tiguan will probably be class leader and if not the Tiguan, it certainly won't be the Forester.

Mazdas a complete mess up not releasing this with a Diesel donk. One was promised for the UK in Autumn 2008 but still hasn't happened. The 2.3 petrol is currently being discounted by £8000 to £15000 in an attempt to shift them.

^Well atleast Mazda offer diesel engines in their passenger vehicles in Oz, unlike other Japanese car companies...

Well I read the CX-7 would get a diesel when the model is facelifted. Perhaps there is no mention of this in the article, because it is a US-spec CX-7.

"Mazda Australia have stated that the diesel in the 6, will make its way into the CX-7"

Well, that could be years away !

Petrol and Diesel are equivilent in price here now making this a priority for Mazda. Many people simply won't buy a CX-7 without Diesel because of the rubbish fuel economy...

Hi guys, thanks for all your supports!!

For some reason i had to change my name due to *moderation*

That n/a CX7 is going to go so well on the road, NOT....

I heard its FWD only?

Why bother with that engine, just fit the same engine as the CX9, the V6.

And yes, a diesel powered one is out soon, not sure for AUS though.

Be nice is C/A just test one AS-PROMISED [I am over the CX7, buta nayway, a promise is a promise!

Cheers
