Actually the comment about the sedan in the US is correct; motor trend gave the nod to the genesis sedan v the lexus gs. The coupe while sharing the name is for a v diff crowd; more like a cut price CLK for the v6 and a 200sx remake for the r spec. Millen is racing it in the drift champs. Well done to Hyundai; v good progress!

If Hyundai can that in a US $22K-$31K car, why can’t Ford or GM? Or do you have your model ranges mixed up?

BTW, with your digs at Toyota and Lexus, you must drive Ford or Holden, correct? I am guessing a pinnacle of engineering like the AU Falcon?

What crack are you smoking Realcars?? Have you even sat inside a Lexus? Obviously not if you reckon a Hyuandai has better interior. Stop posting crap! Besides, Lexus never back-engineered anything from Merc. In fact they first time they came out they kicked Merc’s ass with the LS400 back in ‘89. But that’s ok, you will say any rubbish even if facts state otherwise.

I am sure there will be a performance purists stripped down model and top of the line with all the fruit as well.

They may well have back engineeered an equivalent Merc for the luxury sedan but then again doesn’t Lexus?LOL.

Are you sure about that realcars? This is the genesis coupe not the genesis luxury sedan… 2 different fish even though they share the name.

Plus if it was aimed at BMW/Merc/Lexus then why would they delete: “Bluetooth, automatic headlights, cruise control, trip computer, chrome interior accents and steering wheel audio controls”

Yeah but the Genesis Sedan/Coupe are aimed at BMW/Merc/Lexus(RWD Camry) territory and if u have read the comparo between the Genesis Tau v8 and contenders on Autospeed it’s certainly up there at half the price.

Better quality interior than Lexus,more high tensile steel than Merc and so forth.

Only criticism was that it looks like the Merc.LOL

Automatic headlights aren’t essential, but bluetooth, trip computer, steering wheel audio controls, and cruise control are.
$22000 to $31000 in the US would translate to $35000 to $55,000 here, which would place the top spec one into territory like Falcon Turbos.

It does seem weird seeing a Hyundai lighting up the rears, though – very cool.

what a shame it’s not in RHD, and 157kw does seem quite weak especially for an all new model of a RWD coupe and no doubt the v6 would be heavier…

guess we’ll have to stick to adding bonnet scoops and wings to little Hyundai hatchbacks if people want a go fast Hyundai

To anybody unsure, I read a story on Drive.com that said that Hyundai had canned any possibility of making a RHD version so I’m afraid it won’t be coming to Australia. Shame really, sounds like it’s the best car to come out of Hyundai yet. Maybe for the next generation. Maybe there won’t be a financial crisis then.
